A note from Allison about your home page:
Your homepage determines if your potential client goes any further on your website. Common mistakes people make are being super vague and jargony. People aren’t reading therapists’ homepages for fun. They’re reading them because they’re in pain. Describing their pain helps them know you understand what they’re going through. Listing a bunch of diagnoses doesn’t.
We have guides for how to write this in both the Badass Website Module and the Easy, Effective Website Copy templates. Just remember none of this is as effective without a niche. So do the Know Your Niche course first.
You want your homepage to be at least 800 words. It may seem like a lot but it’s the number of words google likes. Even if search engine optimization (SEO) isn’t a marketing strategy you choose to use, it’s good practice to keep your homepage around that length. Your paragraphs don’t have to be 5 sentences like in the 5th grade. Keep both your sentences and your paragraphs short. No one likes a wall of words. Everything else I want to tell you about how to write your homepage copy is in the resources mentioned above.
800 words is a lot of text, so be sure to review the example section blocks below (H1-H11) for some ideas about how your web-designer might use different page layouts, images, or graphic elements to break up some of that text and make it more cognitively digestible. Make note of any examples that you really like or really dislike and be prepared to share that information with your designer.
Designer notes:
The color palette for this theme is entirely at your discretion.
While the background for each sample section has been color blocked for distinction, background colors are optional in general.
All optional graphic elements, including logos and icons, are represented by the blue honeycombe.
